"Welcome to Canada/Bienvenue au Canada", the sign proclaims as you step off the boat and on to Canadian soil for the first time. It has been an exhausting journey from your home country to your new country. Some of you have spent weeks traveling over land by foot, horse and cart and train and then  weeks on a ship from Europe.

Listening to the noise on the docks, you are excited to start your new life.  You know that you are going to a region somewhere in Canada and going to experience what that area has to offer.

The government has provided you with a short description and pictures of your region. Good luck and bon voyage to your new life.

Watch this video for a brief  history of immigration in Canada. Think about how your family group impacted Canadian culture and identity.
